Update: May 4, 2006 «©NCSX» The Kingdom Hearts video games have engendered a cottage industry of product tie-ins and assorted merchandise for fans to purchase, collect, and cherish. With Square Enix's new Kingdom Hearts Formation Arts Vol. 2, the company goes beyond the normal call of duty and ships a beautifully carved and painted collection of figures. Square could have gone the quick 'n dirty route by releasing generic toys churned out in a generic factory for .25 each but based on the quality of the figures NCS checked out this morning, we're guessing the per unit manufacturing cost was more in the order of US$1.05 each. The rest of the $$$ goes to: Square's packaging, marketing, profit margin, and other incidentals... Each figure measures approximately 10cm tall and includes a base and an an accessory or two inside each box. For example, Goofy's toy includes the main figure and a little spire for him to cling to while Ansem's figure is the most elaborate of the six and includes a Xehanort's Heartless figure and Ansem's Shadow Guardian which are both mounted on a pedestal. A factory sealed case of 8 toys contains a complete set of 6 color figures and 2 gray (monotone) figures. The gray-colored figures are randomly packaged but in the factory case that NCS staffers opened this morning, we received monotone versions Cloud and Kairi. Based on the allocation per box, the monotone figures are rarer than the color versions and a monotone set should theoretically command a higher price in the aftermarket.. The six figures featured in the set as follows: Top row: Cloud | Kairi | Goofy Low row: Oogie Boogie | Ansem | Jafar To order a factory sealed case of 8 randomly packed figures, please enter a quantity of "8" in your shopping cart. Pricing is set at US$9.50 per figure. (Please note: Reading is fundamental). Since Cloud is the most wanted character, one of our vendors alerted us to the Ebay listings for Cloud (Color version) which are going for US$39 each.
