«©NCSX» All preorders for the first print limited edition of Final Fantasy XII OST are shipping today. New orders are welcome. The package spreads 100 music tracks which are composed and arranged by Hitoshi Sakimoto across 4 CDs. Similar to previous Final Fantasy original soundtracks, the four CDs are packaged in a four-part gatefold binder which fans open to present the discs. The binder than slips inside a metallic slipcase for inclusion inside your FF OST library. The limited edition also includes a special 28-page booklet which contains FFXII character artwork, track lists for each disc, information on the composer, a chat between Hitoshi Sakimoto, Kenji Kawamori, and Michio Okamiya, lyrics for "Kiss Me Goodbye," and credits. The booklet will not be included in the second printing of this product. After listening to a few tracks from the CDs this morning and comparing them to the in-game music, the difference in quality is fairly substantial. Without a reference point until today, the music in the FFXII game sounded good but Square had to down-sample Sakimoto's works to fit within the memory constraints of the Playstation 2. However, with the CD available today, the higher quality, subtle background chimes, and vibrancy of the music is brought out as it was meant to be heard.
