NCS Product Synopsis Update: December 14, 2005 «©NCSX» Once upon a time, an ancient civilization had the technological know-how to create humanoid worker-bots known as Karakuri. Although the civilization has since disappeared, their robotic handiwork has withstood the passage of time. Dormant and in standby mode, the wee bots would still be in stasis if a wandering explorer named Bolt hadn't rediscovered them. Like ducklings to mama, a gang of Karakuri burn Bolt into their memory chips under the title of "Master" and obey his instructions. The Karakuri are versatile servants who may be used as weapons as well as tools to traverse dangerous distances. Guide Bolt through various levels and use the Karakuri to navigate obstacles, arrange them in flanking configuration, shuttle through cramped areas, and fly through the air to reach new areas. The Karakuri may also be arranged into surprising shapes to bypass puzzles.NCS Game Notes If you'll indulge us, the Japanese word "Karakuri" can be translated to mean mechanical puppet. Japan has a long history of puppetry including theatrical Butai Karakuri and Dashi Karakuri which perform in religious festivals aboard floats. Culture and technology meshed when Western influences and know-how allowed craftsmen to create Karakuri Ninjgyo puppets. It can be argued that the Japanese love of Karakuri inspired the mecha designs and fascination with robots in modern day culture. View the back cover and screenshots on the main NCSX site.
