Update: March 10, 2006 «©NCSX» Five wee devils are rolling on dice - walk and rotate the dice so that the numbers match each other in contiguous rows to sink them from the screen. For example, two die that have 2 on their faces that touch will start to descend. If you quickly roll other dice with 2s on top to touch the descending die, they'll also descend and so on and so forth. With proper planning and quick maneuvering, it's possible to create multiple chains that span the length of the screen. To force die with faces of three to descend, roll at least three threes together and the trigger is set for dice descent. To shove a die instead of rolling it over and flipping the numbers, leap onto the floor and then push the dice so that the face on top stays the same. In the BATTLE mode of the game, 1P may face off against a COM controlled competitor. Once a game starts, the devils drift down from the top of the screen and alight on a die with one pointed leg. To move dice, waddle over them completely and they'll roll in the direction of movement. For example, if a dice has "4" on top and one red dot pointed towards the southwest, walking over the dice to the northeast will rotate the dice so that the red dot faces up. When you're stepping and rolling the dice, a representation of the dice is shown underneath your profile bar on the upper left corner of the screen. When the call of competition sounds, up to five players may connect in the WARS mode via Ad Hoc mode to complete in dice matching action as well as mini-games that are unlocked by connecting to Sony's website and downloading tickets. NCS Game Notes » In the WARS mode of the game, five devils engage as follows: Rossi / Red Lil devil Azul / Blue lil' devil Verde / Green lil' devil Momo / Pink lil' devil Huang / Yellow devil » All of the lil' devils have a coil of hair that swings over their foreheads and deep black eyes that seem almost hollow. As the little imps complete more stages, they'll transform from hellions to angels complete with wings and halos. When five players are connected via Ad Hoc mode and all stepping on dice at once, it gets a little hectic but massive combos may be created by cooperative teams. » The PSP version of XI Colosseum is based on the PS1 XIGO game with 4 modes ranging from standard 1-player TRIAL mode to the madcap 5-player WARS mode. All 100 stages from the original XI game along with 250 stages from the mobile phone edition are included in the game. » Along with the multi-player WARS mode, there's also two other multiplayer modes - TRIAL which features a Standard and Limited submode. In Standard, players compete to become the first Bomber to achieve the 100th rank while Limited chooses the winner by whoever scores the most in 3 minutes. There's also BATTLE mode which pit 2 players against each other to create the most combinations in the span of 3 minutes. » For added fun, 15 mini-games may be unlocked by downloading tickets from Sony's website. Mini-games include Colobowl (bowling), Mahjong, and Card Games. Similar to I.Q. Mania and Bomberman, playable demos of the other two games in the MAX GAMES releases for this week are included on the XI Colosseum UMD. This document is ©NCSX 2006. All rights reserved.
