Update: July 27, 2007 «©NCSX» When the dastardly Spectre shrinks Professor Hakase's laboratory and everyone in it into the size of a peak-point helmet, things look grim for the good professor, Kakeru, and Natsumi. However, since Hakase is a genius, he has a contingency plan where he's able to "graft" his research lab onto the head of a monkey. There's a lot of them running around the world of Sarugechu SaruSaru Daisakusen so they're the perfect vehicle for transport, utility, and the occasional special power. Once grafted, the motor functions of the monkey are entirely controlled by the residents inside the shrunken research laboratory. Previous Sarugechu games had Kakeru and Natsumi wielding nets and other tools to capture mischievous monkeys but the latest Sarugechu release gives players the opportunity to control a hapless monkey. By barging through the levels and controlling a selection of nearly 200 different monkeys with individual skills, players collect Nano Cards in a bid to restore the laboratory and its contents back to normal size. There's one monkey that's fitted with a hang glider for aerial escapades while another has a fishtail instead of legs for easy mobility through the water. When it's time to break things, there's a bruiser monkey with a powerful punch who can destroy walls to reach otherwise inaccessible areas. Players will have to capture different monkeys and their attendant skills to complete each level. In addition to solo action, up to four gamers may engage in a multi-player action game. NCS Game Notes » At the outset of the game, players take control of the miniaturized research lab and roll around until an ape is spotted. To merge with the ape, press the "TRIANGLE" button to jump on top of his peak point helmet. Once mounted securely, the ape is controlled entirely by the player. » Move the newly controllable ape around with the d-pad or analog nub. To toss rocks at the blue automatons in the first level, press the "SQUARE" button and an unlimited supply of rocks may be flung to destroy the robots. As you continue further along the beach, another ape who's carrying a scoop is scampering around the landscape. To swap your first ape for the new one, weaken him a little bit with a few rocks and then get up close and press the "TRIANGLE" button. The research lab will jump from the first ape to the second ape in one sweeping motion. » The third ape that you'll meet on the beach is a boxer who wears two red gloves. Instead of throwing rocks, the boxer punches like a champ. Once he's under your control, revisit the palm trees located earlier in the level and punch their trunks so they'll drop coins from their branches. » The fourth ape in the first stage has a big key attached to his back. He opens the stone doors at the end of the level and his offensive arsenal consists of banana peels that he throws outwards and the key which he swings like a blade. » The fifth ape that may be taken over in the first stage carries two tree branches. By pressing the "SQUARE" button, he'll cover himself with the branches and become invisible. » Crates that are lying on the beach may be broken with a single blow and the coins inside collected. » The health of your current ape is indicated by the bananas located on the upper left corner of the screen. » To complete the first stage, enter the area that was opened up by the key and then jump up on the rocky pedestals. At the tallest pedestal, perform a double jump onto the upper opening that's populated by roving robots. After defeating them, walk up to the stylized basketball net at the back and dunk the research lab onto the net by pressing the "TRIANGLE" button. This document is ©NCSX 2007. All rights reserved.
