ŠNCS: In the 1920s, the Tokyu Corporation started developing its rail lines in southwest Tokyo and essentially created its own ridership along the way. Housing projects were built up along the railway tracks to ensure that as the city's population grew, the railway would be situated close to housing and in turn, millions of passengers. Take control of a train and guide it through kilometers of track as you escort daily riders to their appointed rounds.

Three main routes are available to test one's train conducting skills

1) Den'en Toshi Line - From Shibuya (Shibuya Ward, Tokyo) to Chuo Rinkan (Yamato City, Kanagawa) (Total distance 31.5km)

2) Toyoko Line - From Shibuya (Shibuya Ward, Tokyo) to Yokohama (Nishi Ward, Yokohama City, Kanagawa) (Total distance 24.2km)
*** Yokohama to Sakuragicho was closed on Jan 31, 2004 but the route is playable in the game for a bit of nostalgia.

3) Oimachi Line - From Oimachi (in Shinagawa Ward, Tokyo) to Futako-Tamagawa-en (Setagaya Ward, Tokyo) (Total distance 10.4km).

Densha uses actual video footage of train routes as one motors through the three main lines in the game. Taito's development team mounted a camera on a Tokyu train to take in miles and miles of track as the train rolled through stations, cities, and cluttered throughways.

The motorman's eye view of the action places the portable player in control of an iron behemoth as he conducts. Slow rolls out of a station eventually lead to breakneck speeds as the landscape rushes past in fluid motion. As usual when motoring into a station, one must line up perfectly or the game will issue demerits and list how many meters you were off by.

Old hands to the Densha series will be amazed and watch mesmerized as the train lurches out of a station and gradually rockets to normal velocity while the monotonous sound of track thunders from the PSP speakers. Densha newbies on the other hand simply won't give this another look. Shame.
