Update: May 30, 2006 «©NCSX» A Japanese text-intensive sound novel which tells a tale of two teenagers who are "spirited" off (well, tricked) to a resort island and must find their way off the accursed rock. Similar to the original Kamaitachi no Yoru from the Super Famicom, characters in the game are shown as featureless silhouettes filmed against photo-realistic backdrops. The visual effect adds a layer of spookiness to a spooky storyline. True to the spirit of sound novels, readers pore over a lot of text, peer at still images and backdrops, and occasionally make a choice which affects the course of the novel. The level of interaction is sparse which earns the well deserved categorization of sound novel. As the story plays out, the situations fork into different routes and pathways which are based on your decisions. As the tale kicks off, Toru, the protagonist of the game receives a mysterious invitation to Mikazuki Island. Like a true rube ready to take advantage of any offer, Toru rushes off with his friend Mari aboard a rickety steamer. Upon disembarking, something appears amiss on the desolate island. The steward of the ship soon lays out the story of Mikazuki where the manse that Toru's going to be staying at was once a prison. The mansion that replaced the prison wasn't much better with the hired help routinely tortured to death when they attempted to escape their dismal servitude.
