«©NCSX» Night racing against an aggressive rival across the expanse of Tokyo Highway reaches the PSP with Shutoko Battle Zone of Control (aka Control Zone). The gameplay remains the same as previous Shutoko games, you versus another hashiriya, blazing through the night. Flash him with your high beams to provoke the challenge and you're off. Spurt in front of your adversary to gather spirit points but fall behind and you'll get sapped. He who gets his spirit sapped entirely, loses. A glittering night time Tokyo provides the backdrop for the racing scenery and denizens of the city will appreciate the care and detail that went into the game. Along with one-on-one racing, a Team Battle mode allows up to five drivers to race at once to protect their honor. View the back cover and screenshots. NCS Game Notes * At the outset of a game, it's possible to customize your license plate. Not only are the numbers adjustable but the designations as well. The color of your car may also be changed to suit your taste. * Spirit Points start dropping when your rival is a mere dot in the distance ahead. If your Spirit Points drop to nothing, the race is over. To stanch the flow of SP, rev up and try to catch up to your rival. Passing him will stop the drop and begin to fill the SP up again. * The intro to the game shows night racers all over the world prepping for night battle as an overhead satellite map checks out areas around the globe. Racers are rolling into action and the timer stops at 2:00AM. * Game options are: TEAM RUMBLE / TIME ATTACK / REPLAY THEATER. In TEAM RUMBLE, players are presented with an intro which explains the storyline in the game amidst a backdrop of street graffiti scenes and general dinginess. * In the car shop, players start with 2,000,000 CP with which they buy a car. To stay true to our inner racing otaku, we chose the AE86 GT-APEX 3-door which set us back 1,350,000 CP. We kept it at the standard white and black color and all ten portions of the license plate were untouched. * After leaving the car shop, players select a team to join. Although there are 15 teams in the battlefield, only three may be selected at the outset of the game: "The Road of Justice," "Speed Master," and "Unlimited." * Before a race starts, the player will navigate through a menu system which takes him from the garage to a parking area to the race setting. A list of rivals may be viewed by pressing the R-trigger. * To beat a rival fairly easy, slide into his lane immediately after the race starts. He will bump into you and push you ahead a bit. As long as you're accelerating, you'll race ahead and eventually win the race. If he's a higher level driver, the tactic still works but you'll have to grind against his car until you pull ahead since both vehicles are rarin' to go. This document is ©NCSX 2006.
