Update: December 27, 2005 «©NCSX» After a couple of delays, Wave finally ships the Ghost in the Shell S.A.C. 2nd GIG Series 1 Tachikoma with Motoko Kusanagi figure to market. The Tachikoma is scaled to 1:24 and Motoko stands nearly level with the detailed blue mech. Although the Tachikoma ships in kit form, it is easily tinkered together by way of snap-lock assembly which is perfect for those averse to modeling glue... We put together ours last night and it took about 3 hours in between dinner, drinks, and a crowded cab ride back home. Pricing is set at a friendly Y1800 but due to import costs and carriage, please note that NCS is forced to sell the toy for US$26. Forced. View larger photos on the main NCSX website. NCS Product Notes * Illustrated instructions are included for assembling the Tachikoma's arms, legs, body, and pod. Once those are all done, a final illustration shows how to put the parts together into a beautifully modeled Tachikoma. * Please note that the Tachikoma's exterior parts are colored a flat blue which require metallic paint to mimic the promotional photos that Wave has given out for preorders. The back of the user manual shows which paints are recommended for the Tachikoma as well as Motoko who is colored a light tan color out of the box. We haven't painted our Tachikoma yet but we're thinking of using Arctic Blue Metallic rather than follow the guide's suggestions. We might even go crazy and paint it a metallic black.
