Description
Ryu Hayabusa is out for blood. His entire clan has been chopped down by the Vigor Empire and he seeks to take down the whole operation by his lonesome. Share Ryu's pain and heartache by stepping into his padded tabi boots and use ninja jumping skills, swift sword strokes and the occasional shuriken to take out the opposition.

Ninja Gaiden has been hyped to a level where it can probably do not wrong. The play mechanics are technically sound with ease of execution and a simple learning curve but the camera needs a little work. When traipsing the light fantastic atop a platform or slashing + jumping in the thick of battle, it's easy to swivel the camera into a clumsy spot which hurts the fast pace of play. It doesn't entirely ruin the gaming experience but it's perturbing.

The environment that Ryu lives in is a versatile one where he may climb, sidle, leap and run unencumbered. Ryu's a ninja but he might as well be a barroom brawler. No ninja stealth techniques are required and he barges into every battle with aplomb and ignites a light show when on the attack. We suppose a ninja just looks stealthier and sleeker than some guy in a tank top with hairy arms and a beer in hand. Other then the camera issues, we're enjoying the game this morning. The variety of attacks, magic, weaponry and moves keep things from becoming overly repetitive. Ryu may slash one foe to throw it off balance and then leap behind another foe to attack...and then run between the two to finish both off at the same time with energetic sword slashes. Ryu's move arsenal includes kicks which send opponents flying in the opposite direction.

There are many occasions when Ryu is surrounded by goons and we're thinking that a Tates system of some sort would have been nice to have where each foe is cut down in quick succession. Maybe in the sequel.

Owen (7): Ninja Gaiden Review
After one entire year of waiting Ninja Gaiden Exclusively for X box has finally arrived for us. The day when everyone thought Ninja Gaiden would never come has finally made faces smile. Now...What do you get when you mix Devil May Cry with a little bit of shinobi and add some interesting boss battles? Well This Is Ninja Gaiden. Story Ninja Gaiden story goes a sword name the dark Dragon Blade is made of pure evil entities and the Dragon Clan guards that sword so the power of that blade will never reach anyone hands. Now since there is a sword of evil there must be a sword of good that can smite it. The sword is called the Dragon Sword and Ryu Hayabusa is now the owner of this sword. Later on in the story Ayane (Yes DOA Ayane) run in after a intense battle with Murai a sensei in a dojo saying "The Hayabusa village..." Ryu there hears this and runs to save his home. After trying to save his home it was too late and The Dark Dragon Blade is taken by a evil Fiend called Doku. Ryu and doku square off but Ryu doesn't win this battle. Probably a month later Ryu is on his quest for revenge and the retrival of the Dark Dragon Sword. Graphics Now I can understand Why Tecmo really pushed this game back so much. The graphics are really impressive, I mean when you played DOA and looked at the scenery you were amazed. Now Picture that scenery 2 Times the graphics. Yep Thats what I mean. The models of the enemies look good and well polished. What Also interest me is the life in the background with enemies, picture birds flying, wind blowing, and water pouring Makes a interesting battle scenes. This game graphics were made with care in each polygon put in it. The cutscenes are even polished. Now Square is known to make top notch CG's but from watching Ninja Gaiden Cutscenes I think square was put to shame when you look at it. Its like watching real people fight except you can tell there video game characters. So expect to be really happy with the movies and graphics of the game itself. sound Well the sound in this game is the most unique thing I seen to date. When swords hit it does feel like a sword is being hit with metal to metal. Yet the sound system In X box isn't too great but I give it credit with this game. The sound effects make you stay alert and make you feel on your toes when you hear quick zooming shuriukens trying to hit you with incredile speed. The voice acting isn't perfect though but beggars can't be choosers when depending on voice acting. Gameplay This is what make Ninja Gaiden a very fun game. From wall running, flips, and swordsmanship this game makes your head spin like a tornado trying to keep up. The plus Is mostly the Difficulty because if you think this game is easy, trust me it ain't. So don't feel cocky thinking you can top this game because I felt the same way too. Fighting The Fighting engine in this game is really fast because the A.I itself isn't dumb like certain A.I in certain games. When fighting the X and Y button are your basic attacks and B is your Ninja stars and you A is to jump. With Certain button combinations you can perform air combos, regular basic combo's, and strings to 60 hit combo's. Now your number one button thats your friend is the left trigger. Its your block button, why will this button be your friend? Well for one when your in blocking form you have the ability to roll and dodge. Rolling and dodging is the most important technique since enemies come in many forms, shape, and sizes. Now I will explain why Im emphasizing this rolling and concentrate on your fighting. When fighting you have Smart Smart A.I. I said that before and I will say it again they are not dumb. What makes these A.I so unique is there ability to judge before they attack because when you think you can hit a enemy they roll, run on wall and somehow manage to get 2 to 3 hits off of you. The A.I wont just stand there either they will make sure they triple team you if they have to. That's what I like to see because games today dont really show that much challenge. So Having A.I that will actually make you think before you fight so don't make any critical mistakes. Now I will go back to the point of fighting, the weapons and skills you use to hold your Foes off: Dragon Sword: The basic sword you have that makes decent damage but when its leveled completely you will love it more. Nunchucku: Basic Nunchucks that can Bring on the pain to enemies and the combo's go up. War Hammer: A weapon thats Really heavy and really powerful. Use at own risk. I only Want to explain 3 because I don't really want to spoil the game for anyone who is actually getting this game. Now Skills Like: Nimpo- skills that use the Ki in a person sending it out with spiritual force to cause damage to enemies. Ice Skill: Sending tornado of ice around Ryu to Damage enemies in a 360 degree motion. Fire: shoots a ball of fire at a enemy causing burns and serious bruises. More but for you to find out. Puzzles Puzzles are implamented in the game to sometimes cut the action for a bit and when I mean for a bit it's for a BIT. Puzzles are Generic stuff like find key, Use platforms, run on wall to get to area, etc ,etc. Its kiddy stuff I would say. Yet it makes the game a bit more enjoyable. Flaws Game Isn't perfect trust me one thing that kills this game is the Camara. The Camara can be fixed or free so you can change it. Now Tecmo I don't want to bash your game now but when Im fighting enemies at a speed where my eyes can't even follow I want to know who i'm fighting or what i'm seeing at least. sometimes the camara gets so bad you want to throw game out window. I probably say the second thing that brings this game down is Lack Of originality. If you played Devil May Cry you Played Ninja Gaiden in a way because you must level up your equipment so you can earn moves and so on. It happens but Ninja Gaiden Difficulty makes up for the whole concept. Overall I didnt talk about projectile weapons except ninja stars but if I do basically I give the weapons away. Now with Ninja Gaiden here and all the flaws doesn't hurt the game badly but it gives the developers time to improve if they make a part 2. This game was worth the wait even with the flaws A 10 out of 10 and a Must buy for X box users.
