I have had an Action Replay 4M for about 3 years now. Never had a problem with it except I got one of the early versions that had 4M of ram but I couldn't play 4M games. I always got a Japanese error message when trying to load a 4M game. The way I fixed it was I soldered a wire inside and scratch a trace. If you ask NCS, they should have a website link to where you can follows instructions on how to do it.
I can get this to work with all my games that require Ram except X-Men vs. Street Fighter. The game boots up and goes to the main screen and even plays a demo, but when I go to start the game it simply reboots. Anyone know what the problem may be? Other than that the cart works great.
The Action Replay is a good accessory for Saturn owners but sometimes I get glitches and then I have to plug it in again to make it work better. I just wanted to answer the other person's question. I also had the problem with some 4M games blanking out. The way I fixed it was I had to push to Master Reset Switch on the back of the Saturn. It looks like a little blue button and is near the battery behind the battery cover. Once you reset it all your memory saves are erased so I would back up any important saves to memory card before pressing that button. I think it clears out all of the ram(?) on the Saturn which may be causing the glitching. Now I can play all my Saturn 4M games like D&D Collection and the great Vampire Savior.
I have both an American and Japanese (Skeleton) Saturn and though the 4M Plus works fine on all my Japanese games on the US console (all Capcom games by the way), it doesn't work the other way around, you cannot use the cart to play American or ever Japanese games that support the 4MB RAM on a Japanese system, it could be just my system (even though the official 4M Cart works fine, and a select number of US Saturn games work without modification, such as NiGHTs and Panzer Dragoon 2), the Japanese system doesn't even recognize the cart, does anyone else have this problem?
